WOMAN can be split into two syllables: Wo + Man, symbolizing a man with a womb. MAN represents Mind, Atma (Soul), and Nature (Body). While man is endowed with masculinity and divinity, woman possesses femininity and divinity. This highlights that divinity is a shared essence in both, but women have the unique ability to bring new life into the world. Thus, a mother is worthy of daily reverence.
A man is an individual who is a sole being. When united with a woman, he expands into a family, society, and the broader world.
In parenting, the quality of the seed (the father's contribution) and the soil's nature (the mother's nurturing) are equally vital for raising a healthy and virtuous child. As in agriculture, where saplings are first nurtured separately before being planted in the field, a father must also conceive divine and purposeful thoughts about the kind of child he wishes to bring into the universe.
On the other hand, a mother has the unparalleled opportunity to influence her child with love and virtuous thoughts during pregnancy. This is an ideal time to sow the seeds of divinity and goodness, as the fetus in the womb is free from the distractions of the material world.
Women play a foundational role during a child’s early years. Up to the age of two, mothers nurture their children with sweet words and affection. From two to five years old, they guide the child through practice and examples. By then, a mother’s righteous influence is deeply rooted in the child’s character.
Children are considered God’s gifts, as reflected in the Tamil word “petror”, meaning “those who have received a gift from God.” Parents, therefore, share a sacred responsibility to raise their children as divine beings, instilling virtues and values that align with the universal dharma.
