Preparation Method of Easy Pooris Recipe

1. Cut the uncooked tortillas into 4 pieces.

2. Deep fry them in hot oil.

You can make easy and tasty pooris from the tortillas you get(44 count) from the Costco

Channa( chick peas) Masala

(for 5 QT.)

Ingredients needed

Channa(chick peas )- 3 1/2- 4 cup

Red onion - 250 gms ( 1 1/2 medium size)

Roma tomato - 10 ( Medium size)

Green chilli - 2

Ginger - 3 inch piece

Garlic - 9

Oil - 1/2 cup

Salt as required

Spice Powder

Turmeric Powder -1 tsp

Chilli Powder -3 tsp

Coriander Powder -5 tsp

Channa masala Powder -3 tsp (available ready made)

For the seasoning

Cumin Seeds/Jeera - 3 tsp

Bay leaf - 2


Soak channa overnight and pressure cook channa with a little salt for 4-5 whistles. Channa should be soft.

Grind ginger, garlic, green chilli and onion to a fine paste. Keep it aside.

Puree tomatoes in a blender and keep it aside.(you can even blanch tomatoes)


1.Heat oil /butter in a pan, add jeera seeds and bay leaf.

2.When cumin seeds/jeera splutters, add the grounded onion paste and saute till it turns brown. Stir continuously.( for 15 min)

3.Then add tomato puree, all the spice powder, salt needed and cook stirring continuously till oil separates.( for 10 min)

4.Then add the cooked channa, 1/4 cup of water and cook for a 10 minutes until everything gets blended well with the masala.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with poori or chapati or even pulao.

Lemon Rice

( for 5 cups)


5 cups- uncooked rice( Basmati/ sona masoori)

5 green / red chillies

5 tsp. mustard seeds

2 tbsp Urad dal ( Optional )

10 tbsp- Peanuts (Optional )

5 tbspoon- Cashews (Optional )

1 tbsp. turmeric powder

1/2 tsp asafoetida ( Optional)

salt to taste

juice of 4-6 lemon(medium size)

1/4 cup - sesame oil

2 tbsp.cilantora finely chopped


In the pan, heat oil, add mustard seeds, and urad dal ,peanuts, cashews. Allow to splutter.

Add green/red chillies, asafoetida,turmeric

Pour in to the rice and salt, lemon, cilantora and mix well

French-Cut Beans Fry

( for 4 packets)


frozen french cut beans – 4 packet ( available at bakers)

onion – 2 thinly sliced

oil – 4 tbsp

red chilly – 3

mustard seeds – 1 tsp

chana dal – 1 tsp

urad dal – 1 tsp

turmeric – 1/4 tsph

curry leaves – 15

salt – as required

grated coconut- 1/4 cup (optional)


1.Heat oil in a pan, add mustard, chana , urad dal and let them splutter.

2. Add onion, red chilly, curry leaves, turmeric, and saute them.

3. Add frozen french-cut beans and stir them for 5 mins.

4. Add salt, powder and cook for 10 mins in low med flame.

5. Add coconut and cook for 1 min

Garnish with cilantro and enjoy with rice.

Tomato Soup

( for 5 Qt.)


4 lb - Roma tomatoes (chopped)

350 gms - Carrot (Chopped like Small pieces)

1 inch – Ginger

2 cube - Beetroot (Chopped like Small pieces)

2 to 4 tsp - sugar

2 tbsp- butter

salt and pepper to taste

3/4 cup Heavy whipping cream OR 1 cup - milk


Boil the tomatoes , carrot, ginger & beetroot in 8 to 10 cups of water till cooked or pressure cook for 1 whistle

Cool to room temperature and blend in a blender to a smooth purée. Strain.

Add the strained mixture , butter, salt, sugar, pepper, cream/ milk . Boil for 5 minutes & Serve hot

Serve hot with toasted whole wheat bread croutons(optional) or French bread ( optional)

Note: For serving plain soup without cream/ milk , add more water make it more dilute
